Honest comparison

StoreLinter vs other Shopify apps

Most Shopify audit and SEO apps check 3-5 generic signals and stop at a report. StoreLinter checks 18 things across compliance, catalog, and polish & SEO — then offers bulk one-click reversible auto-fixes for missing SEO meta, alt text, and product types. Here's how it actually compares.

When StoreLinter is the right pick

  • You want a comprehensive audit across more than just SEO (compliance & trust, catalog quality, polish, AI-engine indexability).
  • You have a catalog of 50+ products with missing alt text and SEO meta descriptions — bulk auto-fix is the value.
  • You want to see a Health Score 0-100 weighted by severity, not a flat list of pass/fail checks.
  • You want fix reversibility (Work Ledger) so you can undo any change.
  • You want to clean up catalog gaps — missing alt text, descriptions, product types — that make your store look unfinished and hurt SEO.
  • You want the cheapest entry-tier in the audit/SEO category ($7.99/mo Pro).

When a generic SEO app is the better pick

  • You specifically want title tag and meta description optimization for Google search snippets — most SEO apps have richer templating around this single use case.
  • You want sitemap generation and submission to Google Search Console as a primary feature.
  • You're not interested in compliance/catalog/polish checks — just SEO.

Can you run both?

Yes — StoreLinter doesn't fight an SEO app for the same product fields. The overlap is mostly the SEO meta description field, where StoreLinter auto-fixes blanks (writes only where there's nothing) and SEO apps may overwrite existing values for keyword targeting. If you run both, StoreLinter handles the bulk-fill (the gap) and the SEO app handles the keyword optimization (the polish). They compose cleanly.

Common questions

Why is the Pro plan just $7.99/month?

Because the auto-fix flow is the actual product value. Once your store is fixed, you don't need to keep paying. We priced it as a “no-brainer” instead of “another SaaS subscription.” First 7 days are free anyway.

Is the free plan really free forever?

Yes. The full 18-check audit + Store Health Score + prioritized issue list runs free indefinitely. Pro adds the bulk one-click reversible auto-fixes on top — that's the upgrade trigger.

How do you handle the read-only constraint?

Scans only read — read_themes, read_content, read_legal_policies, and write_products (Shopify’s write scope includes read access) power the checks, and nothing is ever changed by a scan. The write_products and write_files scopes are used only for the Pro auto-fix flow (SEO meta, alt text, and product types), and only when the merchant clicks a fix. We never write any other field.
